After the success of her first book, “Quilts From the Colonies”, Margaret Mew is back with a more personal quilt story where her love of fabrics takes center stage! Learn all about choosing fabrics for your applique backgrounds, for stems, fabrics that blur the edges, print essentials, and how to curate a selection of your personal favorites.
Margaret also walks us through her creative space, an adorable cottage, with valuable storage tips. Her love of antique quilts is beautifully translated into original reproductions of her own design, adding a light and fun twist to every single project. Inside this richly illustrated book, you will find an array of Medallion quilts where applique and Broderie Perse abound, a coverlet (for those hot summer nights), the perfect drawstring bag for sewers, a bed footer, and a tea cozy (for those cold winter nights). Every project is fully detailed with full-size patterns, and the book is set in a sumptuous, French country home ... one of Margaret’s favorite places!
With projects ranging from beginner to advanced, this is a truly complete quilt book.
Margaret is originally from New Zealand but has called Australia home for some time now. Since the launch of her first book in 2017 with Quiltmania, Margaret has been traveling the world, teaching, and sharing her passion for antique quilts and fabrics. Hand piecing and hand appliqué are her favorite techniques so if you are looking to brush up on these skills, Margaret is the teacher for you! She is truly a lover of the past and lives in an abandoned train-station-turned-home, with a plaque on the front that says, “La Gare” (“train station” in French). So, as the French say, “et voila!” That is how the title of this book came to be born!
